E-WYB from Scrapblog

I made three E-WYB hoping to send it after  hours of laboring infront of this PC early this morning. And as soon as I was started downloading it, I realized I didnt click 'publish', therefore it will remain private and I won't be able to download nor even see again the other 2 E-WYBs, ahhhhhhh!!! nakakainis. Now, I'm not in the mood to do another. Tsk, it was a waste of time. Nevertheless, here's the one I was able to download

I spent 4 hours and I only have 1 made =(, sayang talaga.

Suit for my groom

I browsed the net for suit designs that my hubby would wear on the wedding. Lucky for us because we know someone who can sew them for hubby for an amazing best deal. P300 for pants and P500 for the suit. The 'sastre' is a well-known mananahi in his area. Hubby's officemates would go to his (sastre's) place to have him sew them a pair or two for their uniforms. He makes barongs, police uniforms, polo shirts, etc. We calculated, for P1,200-P1,500 depending on the kind of cloth we will have for the suit, it'll definitely be a best deal. We will have the sastre make suits for the kids and 2 fathers, and male members of the entourage.

Can't wait to see my boys wearing these =).

This for sure: My wedding cake by Hearts and Bells

I inquired from two different wedding cake artists but Hearts and Bells were very prompt in replying and not only that, their cakes are way affordable than the two.

I wanted to order something like this (pic below) but my son was against it, too funny raw =) but I want our cake that way, simply fun and unique. I'll be seeing them on SMX bridal fair.

What if, I'll have a life-sized cake just like me? hahaha, mega laki nun, goodness. I bet guests would be surprised seeing 'me the cake' on top of the table. So, bizarre. Just look how unhappy was the bride when I guess her groom gifted her with this cake. Who would have dared do that but her other half lang cguro?

What do you think? was she happy? =)

My DIYs

I have a list of the things I will DIY (do-it-yourself), goodness. It seems pahaba ng pahaba everyday I embark hours of online surfing. Nevertheless, I am determined to make and FINISH them all. Heaven help me, hehehe..

1. boutonnieres- for the 2 fathers, male principal and secondary sponsors
2. corsages- for the 2 mothers, female principal and secondary sponsors
3. aisle wreaths- about 20 of these =)

4. wedding programs/misalettes

5. wedding cord
6. sets of candles/ lighters
7. pomanders- for the small branches on the trees in the wedding venue
8. extra table centerpieces
9. table numbers
10. thank you cards
11. monogram (check)
12. giveaways packaging

Haytz, parang napagod na ako dun. Before I buy the materials, I have to make sure that I will never ever change my mind again of the wedding color or I will be wasting money onset of the preparations, not good for a start.

Gerbera Daisies

I'm not keen on flowers but I'm making an exception on Gerbera Daisies. They seem to look up at me everytime I see them around. Sunny and cheerful, therefore, I call them, happy flowers =). I asked hubby  for us to make allowances for these flowers on our wedding day. I know it costs a little bit expensive than the regular flowers (about P250-p300 per dozen @ Dangwa)but these would help me relax and feel extra 'cheery' on that special day.

I would definitely ask our would-be florist to make orang and pink Gerbera Daisies as the main component for the bouquets and pomanders. We would probably add an extra budget for these flowers to be incorporated to the table centerpieces. However, I am not particularly sure if my bridal bouquet would be made from these.
Maybe I'll add some pink/orange roses, calla lilies to go with this floral arrangement. Hmmm, not bad eh?

Special Gowns for Special Ladies

Its one of those days again, spending my time online, searching for anything for the wedding. This day, I would like to concentrate on the gowns of the wedding entourage.I went to different sites that has tips on choosing gowns for 'special' cases like, full chests, thick waist, full hips, flaccid arms, hay,...after reading all of these I might as well cover myself with a comforter!

Here are the sites:
gowns for different body type
gowns that flatter specific body types

Anyways, I found one that would complement my body type and age but I'm set on dieting though, starting January 2011 =), this time I'm serious. At heart. Stamped on my mind. Promise. Swear. Cross my heart. I would like to have my measurements taken by June 2011. Probably by then, I'm 1/3 off my current weight (hah, wish ko).

I RESEARCHED on the whats-nots, and the site author said this design would make me look dashing, well atleast not like Rudolf the reindeer =)

I contacted a designer and humbly asked for a quotation, 3 days after he emailed me the rice. It was fair, hopefully the price included the beading, though the pic above doesn't have bead works.

I already have two designs for my mom and mil (mother-in-law). Since they are both petite, choosing designs for them was easy. My mom's taste is simple yet elegant. I believe, she would love this design I picked for her. It'll be hard ordering her dress since she's abroad, details and measurements would definitely be communicated thru e-mails.

My mil's design is more preppy, I chose this for her but I'll have the dress made with sleeves. Both gowns will be in tea-lengths.

In two weeks time I might have gone already to the mananahi to have these designs quoted. This weekend hubby will visit his suking sastre for his suits and the kids'.

On Dream Weddings and Practicality

I am truly happy for those new bride-to-bes who really spend time and effort making their dream weddings come true. I am amazed how they make the super effort to go to different bridal fairs to scout for would- be suppliers and gain new wedding ideas too.

Being married (civilly) for 12 years, I still too have my dream wedding-in-church but on a more practical level. Here are my insights:
Spend MORE on weddings rings, than other wedding stuffs. I say so because, it'll be the lasting material, personal remainder of the wedding. It's something we'll wear everyday for the rest of our married life. Not the gowns, the pictures not especially the flowers nor the food served.

Less peso spending for other accessories such a bridal shoes, cords, candles. Yes, I'd like to wear the 'it' shoes too on my church wedding day but with the high cost of commodities nowadays, those pair of shoes that cost thousands could buy me a new rice cooker, set of plates or bed sheets as well. I am not against small enterprises that makes wedding accessories as their main source of business but for practical brides, we can make these as well and can save us another thousand. Nevertheless, I am proud for the brides who took their creativity to the next level, who made their own cords and pillows to save money and to have them 'personalized' as well.

There is a thin line from being practical and cheap. Practical for me, is considering the amount to be spent compared to the amount to be saved from the same quality  desired. While cheap, is compromising quality just for the aesthetic appeal. Hence, the 'invention' of DIYs =)
